Hitting snooze and wishing you’ve gone to bed earlier? For many students, teachers, and parents, the back to school season can bring about new beginnings, mixed emotions, and sudden stress, especially after a fun and memorable summer. Although we can’t guarantee an end to the morning madness, below are four tips to help you transition into your new routine.
Meal prepping breakfasts and lunches for the week can be a huge time-saver once the sunshine starts trickling in on a school day. Fortunately, it’s easy to search the internet for ideas to help create a shopping list before heading to the grocery store. Once your food’s purchased and cooked into something delicious and nutritious, some helpful items for keeping food freshly packed in the fridge include plastic containers, snack bags, and Ziploc storage bags. Meal prepping saves money, time, sanity, and generally, you and your kids will be eating healthier. Taking a few hours on a weekend or a week night to become a master chef is worth it.
Organize Essentials the Night Before
Nobody likes a morning rush. To avoid it, each evening, think ahead to the following day. Set the breakfast table as you clear the dishes from dinner, lay out any clothing you plan to wear in the a.m., and make sure all bags and backpacks are ready to go. By the time the sun comes up, easing into your morning will be a snap.
Gradually Move up Bedtime
It’s a wise idea to introduce yourself or your children to an earlier bedtime as the first day of school approaches. To make adjusting easier, begin waking late sleepers (or yourself) earlier and earlier, closer to the hour they’ll (or you’ll) need to rise once the school year kicks in.
Give Yourself Extra Time
Nothing calms school year craziness like a little bit of organization. No matter if that means setting your alarm clock to make sure you’re up by a certain time or creating a calendar of events and activities to be sure you’re prepared in advance, giving yourself some leeway is always a positive.
With all that being said, it’s time to ace this school year. You got this! What are your back to school morning routine tips? Let us know — leave a comment below.
